The sievert (symbol: Sv) is the SI derived unit of dose equivalent. It attempts to reflect the biological effects of radiation as opposed to the physical aspects, which are characterized by the absorbed dose, measured in grays. It is named after Rolf Sievert, a Swedish medical physicist famous for work on radiation dosage measurement and research into the biological effects of radiation.

Once the human body is exposed to a level of 20Sv...

Acute radiation poisoning, 100% fatality after 7 days (LD 100/7). A dose this high leads to spontaneous symptoms after 5 to 30 minutes. After powerful fatigue and immediate nausea caused by direct activation of chemical receptors in the brain by the irradiation, there is a period of several days of comparable well-being, called the "walking ghost" phase. After that, cell death in the gastric and intestinal tissue, causing massive diarrhea , intestinal bleeding and loss of water, leads to water-electrolyte imbalance. Death sets in with delirium and coma due to breakdown of circulation. Death is inevitable; the only treatment that can be offered is pain therapy.

This disc is actually comprised of two previous cassette releases, the ACID VOMIT demo and HUMAN GENOCIDE from Lebanese noise merchant Xardas. That's a name you might recognize if you've run across anything from Veinen, Kafan, Seeker or more recently a remix of Stalaggh (Nihilistik Terrror).

This heralds the beginning of a multi-CD release detailing a post-apocalyptic earth. Each track on this offering drags the listener through harsh soundscapes of blistering white noise and industrial rumblings. While some "noise" artist seem to be content with downloaded loops and 20 minute tracks of fish tank noises, Xardas shows his audience no such mercy. If ever a recorded sound could submerge a soul into bleakness, this disc will do the trick. There's no ambient interludes….no beauty….no light at the end of the tunnel….and no rest. It's relentless and trying and requires stamina on the part of the listener. Not because it's flawed, but because it's a journey into the dark most of us would prefer not to take. Some of you will not succeed.

HUMAN GENOCIDE comprises the whole of the 31 minute plus final track and some might say is more focused and precise than the previous four demo tracks. I personally feel the opposite. I prefer my suffering in smaller doses. The final track is almost too overwhelming.

This is without a doubt some of the best death industrial noise that will ever penetrate your ear canals. As clichéd as it may sound, this indeed the soundtrack to the apocalypse, or rather post. Another feather in the cap for Autumn Winds.
